정동준서울대학교 외교학과를 졸업하고 미국 플로리다 대학교(University of Florida)에서 정치학(비교정치) 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 서울대학교 통일평화연구원 선임연구원으로 재직 중이며, 동유럽 탈사회주의 민주화, 선거와 정당, 시민사회, 정치태도 등을 주제로 연구하고 있다. 주요논문으로는 “Does Partisanship Hurt Electoral Accountability? Individual- and Country-Level Comparisons of Western and Postcommunist Democracies”, “Irrationalizing the Rational Choice Model of Voting: The Moderating Effects of Partisanship on Turnout Calculi in Western and Postcommunist Democracies”, “경제평가가 통일의식에 미치는 영향: 2007~2017년 통일의식조사 설문결과 분석”, “Making Embedded Knowledge Transparent: How the V-Dem Dataset Opens New Vistas in Civil Society Research”(공저), “The Wages of Extrication: Civil Society Strength at Regime Termination and Inequality in Postcommunist Eurasia”(공저), “2016년 국회의원 선거 이후 시민들의 통일의식 변화: 이념적 양극화인가, 당파적 편향인가?” 등이 있다.
